Ever wondered...

...what the Thursday ladies get up to during the day.  They feast on oodles of pink food
A couple of weeks ago they adorned themselves in a superb display of pink, beautiful hats, scarves, shirts, socks, undies and even pink pjs and dressing gown.  The room was a sea of pink tablecloths, plates and flowers.  There were gifts, lucky dips and food, glorious pink food.  A huge amount of fun and mirth and they raised over $1000 for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, a fundraiser for the Cancer Council.  Huge thanks to Kim and everyone else involved for a sterling effort.

Sharing the fun

I thought it would be fun to share any new places we find which we think other quilters might enjoy.  I recently spent a weekend away in the Goldfields Region of Victoria and discovered Habadash.

Paradise for anyone who loves sewing memorabilia, fancy trims, old buttons and some artist designed new buttons too.  There are charming doilies and hand stitched old table cloths.  The shop features a smattering of the most divine handmade lace collars and dazzling beaded hat pins.
Everywhere you look there is something which is beautiful to behold.

It is located in the old Midland Hotel, opposite the Castlemaine RailwayStation in Templeton Street, Castlemaine.  Phone 03 54706476.

If you know of anywhere you think others might enjoy, please let me know so we can spread the word.

What's New

A Meeting
The May Guild meeting will be held on the evening of Thursday 17th May with Leanne Church as our guest. Leanne is from Echidna Embroidery and will share her knowledge and expertise in the area of machine embroidery.  Her brother, Brad, will also be available to talk to members about sewing machine maintenance.

A Newsletter
The next edition of our wonderful newsletter is now available and can be read HERE
 A Flickr Stream
I've set up a Flickr stream called North of the Yarra Quilting Guild.  I've popped on a few photos to get it started.  Please join the group and start posting pictures.

Feel like a swap?

There are heaps of fabulous swaps taking place in our happy little bit of blogworld all the time.
Here's one I thought some of you might be interested in joining.  I've been in a few of Cheryll's swaps and they are always really well organised and lots of fun.

Here's a bit of what Cheryll has to say.

This is an excuse for 12inch MINI lovers to belong to a "group" with other 12 inch MINI lovers.
We can share ideas, patterns and encouragement.
To make various 12inch squares of joy throughout the year... and swap them.
Why not join in... there are NO joining fees...
                           there are NO registrations forms...
                           there aren't even any rules...
You just make and swap a 12 inch MINI whenever you want to.

MINI's should be 12" wide (x 14" tall at most) but there are NO ruler police!

Have a hanging sleeve on the back.

Have YOUR name or blog address on the back...   THAT'S IT... Oh and you may have to mail O/S (depending on the number and whereabouts of members in each swap).

June 2012...
"Welcome"  theme... something that would be great at your front door.

Pop over to Cheryll's fabulous blog, Gone Stitchin' to find out more.

Projects Underway

It was a freezing cold night but many still ventured out to share some stitching, fun and laughter at the Thursday evening sit and sew session. Here are a few of the projects currently being stitched.

We had a special visitor too, Anita's mum Betty over on a visit from England.

Lots of fun was had by all.

PS Don't forget  that membership fees are due.
